Counselling for Blue Light & Emergency Services Workers

How I Work to Help You

Therapy that understands the pressures of emergency services work, with appointments available around your shifts and work commitments.

You may be carrying difficult experiences home after a shift, finding it hard to switch off or sleep, feeling irritable or emotionally overwhelmed, or noticing that work patterns are affecting your relationships. Repeated exposure to distressing situations and the demands of irregular hours can affect people in different ways. It may be difficult to talk about the work with people who have not experienced it themselves.

You may also want support with something outside work, such as anxiety, low mood, bereavement, a relationship difficulty, or a decision you are facing. I have a lot of experience working with neuro-diversity, including ADHD-Aware therapy.

You do not need to be at breaking point, and you do not need to have a clear explanation for what is happening.

We can start with what feels important to you.

Who I work with

I work with people from the emergency services, including ambulance staff, paramedics, police, fire and rescue staff, and people in control-room or emergency call-handling roles. This can include serving and former personnel. You do not have to be in an operational frontline role to get in touch.

My experience and approach

I have experience working with emergency services personnel, as an Affiliate Psychotherapist for the London Ambulance Service. My work is integrative, psychodynamic and relational. I will listen to what you want help with and work with you to understand your experiences, relationships, emotions and coping patterns. You will not be expected to tell me everything at once or follow a set programme. We can consider what might be useful for you, at your pace.

Therapy That Works Around Your Shifts

Conventional weekday appointment times do not suit everyone, particularly when you work rotating shifts, nights or an unpredictable rota. I can arrange appointments across seven days of the week, including weekends, where we can agree a time and one is available.

If your rota changes, or you need an early or later appointment, tell me when you enquire. We can discuss what may work.

Sessions can be online or face to face, depending on the location, the appointment and availability. Contact me directly to discuss arrangements.

Seven-day flexibility does not mean 24-hour availability, and appointments need to be agreed in advance.

Confidentiality & employer referrals

Therapy gives you a professional space to talk. I treat what you share confidentially, subject to the usual legal and ethical limits. If your sessions are arranged or funded through an employer or another organisation, the referral and funding arrangements may affect what information is shared. You can ask about those arrangements before deciding whether to proceed.

Locations & getting in touch

I offer online therapy and face-to-face appointments in Carshalton, Sutton and Reigate. Which format and location are available depends on the appointment.

Contact me to explain your shift pattern, ask about suitable times and request a free initial consultation. There is no need to include sensitive details in your first message.

If you are ready to speak, use the Contact page to get in touch or request a free initial consultation and we can discuss what may be possible.
